In my opinion, the attacker, Ong Kah Chua, should not have attacked the member of parliament just because he could not get the SGD$200 hong bao from the government. I think he is very selfish and does not think of the ones around him who are more needy than him. On top of that, the minister needs to undergo operation and cannot even talk. How can he listen to the resident's voices in future?
A member of the parliament is to listen to the residents suggestions and feedback, but may not definitely act on them as some of the suggestions may not be realistic. Hence Mr. Seng's attacker should not have hurt him. Some people may say that the alleged attacker is a mental patient. More the less, he should control his emotions, and seek help from the grassroot leaders. I think that they would be more than happy to attend to him.
